The Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) plays a significant role in the operation and oversight of government, promoting integrity by helping those in public service understand their ethical obligations, ensuring transparency through rigorous public reporting disclosures, and providing accountability through enforcement actions to address ethical misconduct. The JCOPE website is a resource for state officers and officials and the general public providing information on the Commission’s activities, as well as training and guidance for those subject to its jurisdiction.
The JCOPE periodically releases Ethics Reminders. Each Ethics Reminder is a brief and easy to understand synopsis of the laws and rules under the Commission's jurisdiction. Ethics Reminders are issued to assist those subject to the Commission's jurisdiction in understanding and complying with their obligations under law.
