(a) The Governor’s Office of Employee Relations has notified all state agencies that floating holidays have been designated in lieu of fixed holidays for Election Day and Lincoln’s Birthday for all employees except those represented by PBANYS. UUP-represented employees observe Election Day on the day after Thanksgiving. Classes are scheduled on both floating holidays, so all other eligible employees who work on those dates will receive credit for a holiday and may arrange with their supervisors to use the credit on a date of their choice before the holiday recurs. Security services unit employees will receive vacation leave on these dates.
Election Day related: Time Off to Vote
(b) Under the attendance rules, when a holiday falls on a Sunday it is observed on the following Monday.
(c) Under the attendance rules, all eligible classified and unclassified employees will receive equivalent compensatory time off for the holiday, which is noted on the Time and Attendance records. The college has not specified a particular day to be used in lieu of this holiday. Use of the holiday time should be requested in advance and approved by the supervisor. Please note that the holiday time cannot be used before the holiday, and must be used before the holiday recurs.
